You need to look at the policies of different companies, and the cancellation clauses. it used to be the case that direct line would give a pro rata refund. However I am pretty sure they now have a different policy of charging a 1 month of premium (i.e. one twelth of premium), which is what most insurers do these days.
What I recommend is that you phone every insurer you can think of and ask them "what is your refund policy in a mid term cancellation".0 -
