Sunday 20/07/08 What small dfw things have you done today???

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

I have:
  • check online banking
  • update spreadsheets
  • clicks
  • Make a loaf in breadmaker
  • storecupboard lunch
  • Make a big batch of pea and ham soup for freezer
  • Cook tea for my oldies at work and eat for free
  • Make some jam with rhubarb and apples from garden
  • Have a no spend day
  • Not drive anywhere to save petrol
Have a lovely Sunday everyone, hopefully one of us will see the sun today:rolleyes:
Andan, following tips from that site i am off soon to block lots of unwanted e mail stuff and close down unused website stuff from my computer, will save time and be less cluttered:D I am also aiming to do one task per day from the list of things that I keep putting off, so have made a start on being more organised.

Welcome to any new posters, feel free to join us we are very friendly in here:D Hi to the usual gang:hello: :hello: :hello:

Morning Sophiesmum and all who follow :hello:
It is sunny here, so I *will* get out in the garden :D
    Otherwise today I shall:
    • pack an e-bay item and an Amazon book that I've sold for posting tomorrow.
    • buy some onions for batch cooking later (after gardening  )
    • Menu planning, mixed with portion controlling is working. I will actually have leftovers to use in the next meal (rice from last night, stuffed peppers tomorrow with leftover lamb (todays meal) & rice :D I feel I'm turning into my mum:rotfl:
    • I should count Skyping OH which is free, whereas last year, when he first left the phone bill hit £1,000  But I hadn't thought of it before :D Now I spend £20 on Skype each month calling his mobile when he's on the road for days, and when he's back at his home it's FREE :D
Have lovely days everyone, I hope you get a chance to enjoy some sunshine - it is July after all :A

Morning Sophiesmum, OliveOyl, and everybody else to come... :hello:

    Today I have/will:
    • Do piggyclicks and lightspeed checks
    • Walk to second job (saving bus fare) and do some extra hours there to make some extra pennies :D
    • Put two more washloads through and dry them on the airer (first one about to come out of washing machine soon, and will do the other this evening when I get home)
    • Pop into the newsagent and collect my lottery winnings from last night (only £10 but I like to think its practice for the big one!:rotfl:)
    • Eat all meals from freezer/storecupboard - this thread is really helping us with this problem...I can't remember the last time we had a takeaway! :T
Hope you all have a good day and that the sun is shining where you are - its lovely here in South London... :j

Morning everyone. This is my first time on this thread. :)
    Today I will:
    * Do Pigsback comps
    * Hang out a few loads of washing
    * I've got some friends coming round later for tea. They are foodies and shop at Waitrose so whenever we go to theirs the food is always sumptuous. I'm on a budget and can't compete but I do have a veg patch so my menu is going to be all home-grown or store cupboard :A

Soup (light lentil & lemon) - extra batches made for the freezer
    Red onion (h-g) quiche
Salad, mixed leaves, new runner beans, peas & radishes (h-g)
Broad beans (h-g) saut!ed in garlic
    Boursin-Stuffed courgettes (h-g)
    New potatoes (sadly not h-g)

    * I'll also be using my home-grown slave labour (aka the kids) to clean up a bit first! :rotfl:
