I don't know what to do?

Options
When I turn my computer on, the desktop pic and icons arrive. Followed by a box saying " The updates could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer and then restart Firefox to try again". I delete this.

When I click on Start, there are two FF icons. One says Internet Firefox the other says Mozilla Firefox. I don't touch either of them because I use the short cut icon.

So, something needs to be done/removed and I don't know what to do, do you?

Go into Control Panel and uninstall anything that says Firefox in it. Then download the new version of firefox from the website and install that then try. Sounds like a corrupt install

If I do, will or what will I loose? I've got all my favs lined up along the screen.

    I assume via add/remove?

It seems Arlen has now gone off line, would someone else please advise me please?.
Within Add/Remove, there are several references to Firefox, and icons which clearly are from there, is he suggesting EVERYTHING that appears to be from Firefox should be removed?

I assume there may well be things in Programmes that are FF related, should they go to, and should they go first?

What about the FF icons seen after start>>

I am quite happy to remove everything FF related and start again, but only if that is what I think he meant.

Lord knows what I've done but, I took something (only one item)out of Add/remove (can't think what) and I needed to close the system down. I came back via IE because FF was taking a longish time. When eventually I did come to FF, I was greeted with a page saying:-

"You've been updated with the latest version of Firefox",so here we go. I will sail on as before.
