HD TV 1080i or 1080p

Hi just looking at sky HD and noticed that it transmits in 720p or 1080i could someone tell me the difference between i and p, and if I have got a 40" tv with 1080p am I losing out. cheers

1080i (1,080 actively-interlaced lines of resolution) and 1080p (1,080 progressively-scanned lines).

1080p is the FULL HD option, and you will benefit with this when you're watching Blu-Ray Discs, which are produced in this format
Sky only broadcasts in the lower 720p or 1080i, so you are not losing out in any way.0
