Halifax, messed up on a standing order

Need help.
I set up a standing order of 500 pounds to be paid to my landlord, once it was paid I cancelled the standing order online, via my internet banking with Halifax, however to my amazement the 500 pounds went out again the next month, as soon as I found out, I went into Halifax, they made me fill in a form and the lady said the money would be back in my account, it was, but about a month or 2 after I received a letter stating that the 500 pounds would be taken out of my account, as the landlord would not pay the money back to Halifax, Halifax set me up with a short overdraft to compensate for this. However, is there anything I can do to get this money back? I do believe it was an error made by Halifax.
Thanks

I think that you should approach you landlord to find out why he will not return the £500 which is not due to him. Is he no longer your landlord or did you pay him by another way that particular month ?0

he is no longer my landlord, and i used to pay him by standing order of 250 per month but for some unknowing reason, that standing order did not go through 1 month(nothing to do with my account or funds in it, it just didnt go through) anyway i paid him 500 pounds the following month, and that was the end of our contract, i moved out, but the next month 500 pounds went out again, when it should not have. i dont think there is any chance of getting the money of him, however i do believe i am in this situation due to halifax online banking sytem being useless.0

Halifax made the error so it is up to them to sort it out.
I'd write to their complaints department demanding £500 be creditted to your account immediately plus £x compensation commensurate with the admin charges they levy on customers, and if they are not willing to do this say you will take your complaint to the ombudsman.God save the King!
I'll save Winston Churchill, Jane Austen, J. M. W. Turner and Alan Turing.0 -
When you cancelled the standing order did you get any confirmation that it had been cancelled ? If so I don't think the Halifax have a leg to stand on.0

Does anyone have a template of a letter i can send to the complaints depatment, that will get thinks moving, rather that having to send letter after letter to get anywhere with them.
