Hotel in Hurghada?

Now me and the missus have sorted xmas holiday, she has gone and booked us cheap flights to Hurghada (good job I can spell it cos I cant say it!). Looking for a nice hotel with good food. Looking for personal recommondations, I always believe in them. Budget is and isnt an issue if you know what I mean, if the hotel is right then the budget should accommodate.

Many thanks in advance.
Regards
Welshnige and his Globetrotting Missus

If you appreciate a 'smaller' hotel, we found the Safir Hotel to be excellent.

Cheers Murphy, we do prefer the smaller hotel. Ive checked the price on the hotel and its excellent but only half board. Any indication as to how much a beer, glass of wine etc would cost?

I'm a touch out of date (plus the exchange rate has changed a lot) but IIRC, drinks were very reasonably priced, but they have seemed to be reasonably priced in every hotel that I've stayed in Egypt !

p.s if you've ever fancied having a go at diving, Diving World at the Sheraton next door is excellent

Or, if you fancy something a touch different, El Gouna is a fantastic setup, and is about 30 mins from Hirghada airport. You'll love the dinearound !

I ran the Hurghads/El Gouna option via Mrs Cat and she said El Gouna EVERY time !!.
I'll go along with that - the whole setup at El Gouna was brilliant. & if your a golfer, the golf courses would be a real clincher.

I seem to remember the Captains Inn/ Captains table which is a Steakhouse restaurant in Abu Tig (El Gouna marina) is a lovely place to enjoy a good meal and watch the boats go by !
