As the title I can't solve why every one is coming through twice? On Outlook Express.

I phoned my provider and they sorted it out their end - I was getting more duplicates than you. HTH.

I had to fix a problem like that at work, I fixed it by going to the accounts preferences, by clicking on the account, and then press file and go to either properties or preferences, and there is an option to choose between donloading an e-mail once, or every time you press send/recieve!

Hi, open OE/ Tools/ Accounts/ highlight the relevant account and click on the Properties box. Select the Advanced tab and under 'Delivery', ensure the box is not ticked (blank) next to 'Leave a copy of message on server'.
    Apply any changes made.

If not the 'Leave copy of messages on server tab', the most common error is to have created some mail filters that duplicate messages.

Check under Tools -> Message Rules -> Mail

Thanks for all your replies and no Message Rules and no box to tick re 'keep one on server'.

I have taken a more detailed look as it's my OH's laptop and she mainly uses a gmail account. It is only on this where duplication happens. Her other account is a lineone.net where no duplicates. Later when I have more time I will have to re-check the gmail set up options.

Again thanks for help so far.

It happens because your new laptop has a dual core processor, running twice as fast so it can process two emails at the same time.

Have you tried installing Thunderbird, configuring it to the same Hotmail account and see what happens? I'd be tempted to think this is a problem with Outlook Express rather than Hotmail's POP3 server. If you do get two emails in Thunderbird then you know it is a Hotmail problem. If you don't get two emails then welcome to the wonderful world of Thunderbird - a much better email client than Outlook Express.
