Can you link a credit card to a savings account?

in Credit cards
Or does it have to be a current account.
Trying to help my mum set up her finances.
She needs a savings account where she can store money at a good interest rate. Yet would like access to cash (via bank, or cashpoint.)
However, I was thinking if she gets an Egg Money Card like i have she could use that to buy things and you can pre-load it and withdraw money too should she need it.
She has no issue using the net as an account but would like to be able to withdraw cash from time to time.
So I was hoping to get the bradford and bingley web saver 3 which seems to be at a good rate and link that to the egg money card if possible. Is it?
(she cannot get a current account at any decent rate because she cannot afford the income investing requirements)
thanks for your help.

No CC can be linked to any bank account except in the case when you have CC from the same bank which you have an account with. In that case they will be able to take the money from your account to pay off their CC should you miss a payment etc.
I think your mom will be better off opening a normal current bank account with a high street bank (Lloyds/Barclays/A&L/Abbey have VISA Debit) and also a savings account with them. She can transfer money between accounts on the Internet and by phone banking.0 -
I can certainly recommend Bradford & Bingley's Internet Saver, issue 3.
It's an easy access online account with annual and monthly interest options. Quick and straightforward to open as well, provided that she's on the electoral roll.
She must hold a personal bank or building society current account though, that offers direct debit payment facilities
