Wills in Scotland

Right, I need a bit of help here. We are seeing lawyer in a fortnight to sign off our house deeds and we are updating our wills which were made 35 years ago before the children were born. We live in Scotland.

We have basically said if one goes, the other inherits and when we both go our two children inherit the lot. We also have a third share of DH's mum's house which comes down our line should he die first and if I die automatically goes to our kids.

When either one of us goes, we have left a small inheritance to any grandchildren (£2000 to go into Baby Bonds sub 18 or to them directly post 18).

We have said separate instructions being left about valuable items such as jewellry. Will this be acted on if we just do a signed thing for the lawyer?

I do know when my Dad died and DH's dad died we had to sign a disclaimer not to claim the moveable assets thing.

Asking DS (in Ireland) and DD to be executors. My gut feeling is to mention lawyer too?

Sorry this is a bit long.
