Hi brainy people,
Missstropy mithering again.
Ive got a Samsung Digital Camcorder model VP-D371W. It uses mini DVtapes and I was wondering if I could transfer the tapes onto disc. This model doesnt seem to be able to connect to pc. I used to put my old canon camcorder through the tv and record onto video tape and I was wondering if the same could be done with this one but with a dvd recorder instead of video tape. Any suggestions please as sending it off for transfer seems a bit pricey.
Thanks.

Yes it can using the idea of a DVD Recorder. Alternatively, you could fit a cheap TV card with Component or SVHS In (depending on the output of the camcorder) to your PC and use that.0

Thanks for that. Ive been looking at DVD recorders and they seem to have dropped down in price a lot and seeing as it will be on an ongoing thing (saving the kids to disc) I think that would be my best option. Much appreciated.0

As far as I can see this model has a Firewire/ IEEE1394 port. Using this is the best way of transferring your video, in digital form, to a PC or DVD recorder.
The cable looks like this:-

You may need a firewire card for your PC if it doesn't already have one.

Brilliant thanks for that I will give the camcorder a good look over and look into that.
Have just emailed the link you gave and asked if it can be done before I buy it.
Thanks again.0
