Strange Keyboard Problem

Options
Just replaced an IBM Thinkpad keyboard with a new one (R50e model)

When I type certain keys for example the x key it produces xsw2 on screen

or c produces cde3

or z produces zaq1

in fact it seems the keyboard and computer need re-introducing to each other!

The new keyboard looks just the same as the old one, the keys are all in the same place.

Anyone got any suggestions?!...I'm stumped!

Many thanks to anyone who can!!

Richard

Faulty, each key press is including all the keys above it and to the left. Get another.

Seconded. Even an AZERTY keyboard wouldn't produce more than one character per press.

What worries me is its a replacement keyboard. It could actually be the keyboard controller in the PC at fault if it is a PS2 keyboard.

Just to confirm its a laptop we are talking about and the keyboard replaced is on the laptop?.
What was the fault on the original also do you have an external keyboard (Usb or PS2) you can plug in does it work ok?
If the replacement is having the same faults as the original then you have got problems.
