Banks are desperate

I have an Ulster Bank Gold card. They charged me an overlimit fee of £12 last month (June) got it refunded because the only thing that put it slightly overlimit was the insurance and their charge.
Recieved my statement for July and there it was again a £12 overlimit charge despite having paid over £500 into the account and only £204 of new transactions. Called them and they said because I was overlimit (refunded) last month they charge £12 the following month as well. They refunded that as well.
What the hell is going on? They charge me £12 this month because they charged me £12 last month.
WOW...they must need money badly and I've just heard that the banks cash calls have been shunned by the shareholders.
Prepare yourselves for a major bank collapse and a lot of turmoil to come. I know there will now be a lot of people who don't agree but remember this post when it happens.
On the bright side your children will be able to pick up a lot of half price properties approximately 3 to 5 years from now.
The problem is that since the eighties Britain no longer makes things and sells them to earn its living. It makes money out of money, basically just gambling, yes I know others would call it "investing" or "speculating". However, we put our money on "BLACK" and it came up "RED"

    Hi there,

I think a few of the banks have been doing this for quite a while and it happens if you're balance is overlimit across 2 statement periods. So you will get a charge on the day you go over limit and another charge on the statement date if you are still overlimit.

I dont know if that applies to your case but that's one of the reasons.

Stardust is spot on. If you're over the limit on the last day of one statement, you'll still be over the limit on the first day of the next statement. Somehow I doubt Ulster Bank are going to be going out of business because of the £24 they refunded you...

Also worth remembering that these are the new reduced fees..until some point last year, year before? The charge would have been £25 a time. I agree that there are recession like issues at the moment, but I don't think Ulster bank charging £12 a time as stated in their terms and conditions means they will be first to the wall.
