removing bathroom tiles

i have so far removed the tiles on 2 sides of my bathroom, using club
hammer and a scraper.

it will be a few weeks before i can get the walls plastered, so i am
wondering should i leave some tiles where the shower is? if the walls
get wet could it cause a problem?

this is what it looks like:

I can't see your photo, but I would suggest you avoid getting water onto plaster or plasterboard. Getting the old tiles off is the hardest bit.

From a money saving point of view, are you just replacing the tiles or leaving the wall plastered? If you are replacing the tiles, I would have a go at plastering yourself. Not something that I would normally recommend, but if you're just tiling over the top it doesn't have to be a fantastic job.

And in answer to your question, I would leave the tiles around the shower for as long as you can.

If you have plasterboard walls? I found it easier to replace the boards than re-plaster the damage.

It doesn't look like plasterboard in the photo.

I am probably going to have mostly painted wall and a tiled area around the shower. so I think probs best to have the plastering done properly??

If you look at the photo, the areas where i took tiles off, what do you think i need to do to that in preparation for a plasterer? i'm guessing something like remove all loose bits, then apply 50/50 pva/water ?

Ahh those tiles bring back memories. We used to have exactly the same tiles in the bathroom at my parents house. Were ripped out a good few years ago now though!
