New Laptop...

Is there anywhere (online or offline) that will do a part exchange etc. when buying a new laptop?

I've got a desktop PC with a pretty good spec and in great nick, but I want a laptop for when I'm on the move!

Any hints n tips would be ace!

Your best bet would be to put an add in the local paper. Look at others in there to get an idea of price.

Dell are the best place to get a laptop and they certainly won't take a part-exchange.

You might get more money selling off your desktop while looking for your laptop as the people who sell laptops the cheapest (dell, toshiba) won't take a part-exchange. It is more trouble but it's probably the way you get most value.

Check with computing services at your university if they will help you sell it or if there is a board for selling/trading computer stuff. They may also have some really good deals on laptops as universities tend to get a bulk discount.

Not sure if this is specific to Liverpool (my uni) but try StudentEmart.com, as a good place to buy and sell all sorts of things (apparently).
    Good luck!
