Hiya
This problem has suddenly started. When I have an IE page open and right click on a link and select `open in new window' the new window opens BUT the original window shuts down! I am one of those surfers that have several windows open at a time so this is driving me nuts even though it only started this evening. Can anyone rescue me from this frustration?

Mmmm, try this open IE, Tools, Imternet options, Programs Tab, Reset Web Settings
Take out Tick, Yes...0 -
You beat me to it - I was just about to post that the problem has resolved on its own! Thank you for the suggestion though...

Give firefox a try. It has tab browsing so that you can open up loads of pages in the same browser. You can then select the appropriate page from the tabs at the top of the browser. This is miles easier and faster than having loads of ie programs running.
To open a new tab you simply press the control key and the click the link.0 -
Cheers for that! Is Firefox easy to uninstall if I don't like it and will it run happily alongside IE on the same machine - I somehow can't see my hubby changing his ways and he and my son use my PC. Thanks

Yeah firefox is really easy to install/uninstall and it runs quite happily with IE. When you install it just untick the option to make it your default browser. That way your hubby/son won't even notice it is installed. You can then use firefox as and when needed.
I use firefox for general internet browsing as it has really good tools for blocking popups and addins for blocking adverts etc.
I then use IE for banking and internet shopping etc.0
