Electric "Fire"

I want an old fashioned portable "electric fire". The incandescent radiant type with one or two bars and a parabolic reflector. Can't find one anywhere. Has the nanny society banned them as unsafe?

I don't want a convector (too slow to respond) or fan heater (too draughty) or a fixed heater (I need to move it about). I have tried a halogen heater but it's far too bright - you need to wear sunglasses when its on!

I`ve been searching high and low myself.
This is about as good as it gets.

Not 'old fashioned', but modern and more expensive option:

  • Thank you folks for your suggestions. I'm going for alared's Beaumark Two Bar Fire which looks as though it will fit the bill.
  • When I say I am going for "alared's Beaumark Two Bar Fire" I mean I intend to purchase the one he recommended, not one that alared personally owns.

In the post #5 (now eddited by board guide) lifesachallenge offered you to buy(?) his heater that he doesn't need anymore ....
  • Weird! I was going to say 'I think Ryness do them', but I thought I'd look on the website. There's a piccy of the one I meant, but the link doesn't work. Have a look on http://www.ryness.co.uk/productslist.aspx?CategoryID=130 - is this what you meant? If so, I bet they've got them instore....... (I paid £9.99 I think, last time I bought one)
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

The two bar reflector fire is exactly what I`ve been searching for but as you point out when you click on the link
    nothing.
It makes me wonder if this company has also stopped selling this tpye of fire.
I don`t know where you got the link from but when I searched their site for reflector heater it came up with zilch.

I have contacted Ryness by email and they now have the link working (top marks for speedy action and response by them)

    http://www.ryness.co.uk/productslist.aspx?CategoryID=340

The fire costs £14-99 and there is a max charge for delivery of £4-90.

"Carriage on this item is £4.90 (that is the maximum we charge for carriage so if you add other items this amount does not change."
