Crows/birds bashing windows

Hi All!
Now we've moved into the house, it seems our early morning - like 4am - alarm call is crows, bashing on the windows, at their reflection & I mean bashing, olike attacking the window!!
We've got aluminium blinds inside & I've done a thorough job of making the windows sparkle clean, so this means they get a good impression of another bird, appearing to them.
I've put some soft toys on the sill inside, but unsure what else might put them off doing their attacks!
Any ideas welcomed!!

We have the same problem but it's the neighbours peacock. He gets so intense he leaves smears of blood on the glass of the patio doors. Tried all sorts of things to stop him, no sticker things or dingle dangles had any effect. Even drawing the curtains with a fan set up to keep them moving had no effect. Had to resort to a piece of trellis on the outside in the end. Luckily it only happens in the spring. He attacks cars too so the car can't be left on the drive. Odd because he is one of three and the other two are no trouble at all.0

I have had this problem before.
Make a couple of silhouette pictures of a bird and put them on the window, it stops them going near the window as they can see the silhouette.
Hope that helps.
MaritnBeen there, done that, now I want to do it cheaper!!0 -
I had a problem with birds sitting on a railing outside my windows. I tied a plastic bag to the railing and this was sufficient to frighten them off."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

last week I got up made my bed and just under the corner by the leg I could see something, put my foot under to drag it out (like you do) and it was a large dead thrush. Lots of hysterical screaming and stamping of feet ensued but my son grabbed a carrier bag and rescued me. I washed my foot about 10 times, kept thinking I'd been asleep over the top of that all night (ODG) Now I only open the windows just a teeny little bit.
My neighbour feeds the birds, this morning I watched a red kite land on my shed frighten a magpie off and grabbed it's bit of bread:eek: . There is about 12-15 red kites here, people keep feeding them now and they've become very brave. They swoop down past my kitchen and front room windows, they give me a shock, they are huge, very big wing span. I don't even live in the country, I live kind of on the outskirts of a small town but you wouldn't say it was a rural area. They were released for breeding purposes, when we first saw them they were very high up in the sky, not any more and now they make that funny squeeley noise a lot too.0 -
You're lucky to have kites. They are a great success story of a species recovering after years of persecution by gamekeepers. We have increasing numbers here and it is lovely to see them. I wish I could lure some down!
I think you are fairly safe from having these flying into your bedroom (unless you have very large windows wide open!)0 -
After cleaning my windows I was a little surprised in the morning to see a bird "spread" all over the window. The stupid pigeon had only flown at full force into a window. At night.
Is there any purpose in these pests?0 -
Hmm, maybe Red Kites can eat them? After cleaning my windows I was a little surprised in the morning to see a bird "spread" all over the window. The stupid pigeon had only flown at full force into a window. At night.

Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.
It's a recession when your neighbour loses his job; it's a depression when you lose yours.0 -
We have Red Kites too - but it's the crows that are the problem.
The pigeons are not so bad, either!!
Crikey, sounds like Bill Oddie ought to move in here, for a series of Birdwatch in Bucks!!

I saw a woodpecker the other day. Looked just like they do on the cider. That's the only way I knew what it was
