Cheapest time to fly long haul

Sometime after the 20th August I need to fly out to South Africa will have to come back either 1 or 2 September or 5th September. I know I don't stand a chance of getting really cheap flights but does it make a difference if you fly on certain days. If we fly back after the school holidays etc.
Any advice. I've done loads of different airline searches using the tips from this board and also searching using the airlines direct. It's 1 adult and 2 kids 9 and 13.

i mean... i could easily help search for flights, find out which is the cheapest days to fly out and back etc etc... but your post has no information in of any substance..
you want to fly to SOUTH AFRICA... but... but... south africa is huge....
ideally you want to tell us
earliest day out
latest day back
length you actually want to stay
airport flying from
airport flying to
budget per person... 9 and 13 year old kids, will still get charged full fare normally.. so you have 3 people!
oh.. and the cheapest you've already found!
give me this info, and i'll run it through some tools i use!

Earlier today I received emails about a sale from KLM and Air France. I'm pretty sure that Johannesburg was included.0

Sorry shows I am still in shock about the news - the reason why I have to travel. I am aware that SA is huge.
ideally you want to tell us
earliest day out 18th August
latest day back 5-7 September
length you actually want to stay during those dates
airport flying from heathrow would be ideal but any london airport
airport flying to Johannesburg or Durban
(I could probably organise own way from JHB to DBN)
budget per person... 9 and 13 year old kids, will still get charged full fare normally.. so you have 3 people! Not sure on budget - looking at whole amount
oh.. and the cheapest you've already found! Just found this one which is different to what I found earlier Gatwick to JHB and return on Emirates £1572.80
2 × adult fare @ £562.60 (incl. £67.60 tax)
1 × child fare @ £447.60 (incl. £67.60 tax)
give me this info, and i'll run it through some tools i use
Hope this is enough info!0 -
Thank you for posting this, I too have been looking at flights and was going to post if anyone knew when the cheapest time of year to fly to south africa would be.
Hope you dont mind me asking on your thread for some help in finding flights too.
I need to fly to durban from any london airport before september the 13th and would need to stay for three weeks.
If anyone would be able to help me find cheap flights its for 2 adults, 1 x 3 year old and 1 x 2 month old.
Thank you0 -
we have been looking for flights to the US at the end of August noticed that prices came down on the 22nd for most of the airlines. Called trailfinders for a quote and they confirmed most of the airlines, prices reduced then, KLM, Airfrance and BA certainly did0
