i wasnt sure which board to post this on as i have a number of problems . i am homeless and staying in a bed and breakfast.i lost my son in february when i was 30 weeks pregnant. on the same day i was served notice to quit by my landlord. when i told them what had happened they didnt care one bit. i wasnt able to find anywhere to move to they gave me only 1 extra week then they started court action. i had to leave on june 16th. to add insult to injury i have to pay their court costs.my b&b costs me 160.00 per week just forthe room. my only income is 117.00 per week .it has eaten my money up and affter next week i am in the poop as all my extra is gone. i dont know what im going to do or where i am going to go. the council arent interested as imno loger a priority case. i am at my wits end. only recently have i been physicaally up to looking for work. mentally i have good and bad days. i also have about 38000 debts at the moment which im paying nothing towards.i would appreciate any help as im at the end of my tether.

Hi DID - I'm DID too! We could be twins!!

Sorry I can't really help but just want to say welcome and offer you a hug. You've come to the right place. Fab bunch on here.

I would suggest you make an appointment at the CAB and speak to a debt advisor and a housing advisor. They will offer you advice and support.

    Please keep posting. Good luck.

Go to the local housing office and refuse to leave till they sort you out. Tell them you are homeless and stand your ground. Do you have any family at all?

    Hi DID.

I couldn't read and run. I'm so sorry about your loss, and the s**ty landlord. I'm sending you big (((HUGS))).

I would definately camp out at your local housing assosiation until they find you somewhere to stay. I'd also call Shelter asap.

Firstly, I'm very sorry to hear about your situation, and many condolences on the loss of your little boy.

Firstly, please contact Shelter as a matter of priority to discuss your housing situation. Their website is here: https://www.shelter.org.uk And their telephone number is here: 0808 800 4444, open 8am-8pm every day.

Secondly, please contact one of the debt charities (NOT a company who ask for payment to help you with your debt), such as CCCS on https://www.cccs.co.uk or 0800 138 1111. The will help you and advise you with your current debt.

I would also suggest that you have a think about talking to someone about your little boy, perhaps starting with going to see your GP to get a referral to counselling, if you haven't already.

But, first things first, and that's help with getting somewhere to live. Contact Shelter first thing tomorrow.

Do you have any family or friends you can talk to, or can stay with whilst you sort yourself out?

Please continue to post and let us know how you get on.

When you have time, please also post an SOA. This is a Statement Of Affairs. Tell us all the money you have coming in, all the money that goes out, everything you spend your money on each month. This should also include any debt you have on cards, loans, the minimum payment you have to pay each month, and the interest rate.

I hope this helps you get started. :)

    Best wishes

Firstly I would not worry too much about the debt right now. You obviously have no source of income and no assets and no where to live so there is nothing they can take from you. When you are in a more stable situation you will be able to sort this out.
Firstly you really need to see about getting your housing situation sorted and more stable. Would try the council/shelter/cab - for your rights/your councillor if no will help etc. /job centre - anyone really.
You also need to look at getting benefits sorted. Again the above should help you out.
Don't be afraid to get your doctor on side. You may need help from your doctor - ie if your doctor decided it would give you more depression it may help to secure housing for you and given the trauma you have so recently suffered.
Take care -sort one thing out at a time - you can do it.

  • Go to your local housing dept, if you go and say you have nowhere else to go and refuse to leave until they put a roof over your head they will do it. It is neither easy nor pretty but will be worth it in the long run.

I lost my home and refused to go down the homeless route. I couldn't afford a BnB or hotel and so was in a tent for a number of weeks with 2 kids (luckily weather was ok) as council refused to help me unless I declared myself homeless.

In the end I had to do just this as we couldn't carry on as we were any longer. I had to live in a grotty 1-bed flat with the kids which I scrubbed from top to bottom a dozen times and still hated it but within six weeks they put us in a house which we have now been in for 2 years.

It's not easy but it's worth it in the long run
