Did you attend the check out? if not why not.
What you need to do is have both reports, check in and check out, put them side by side and go over them comparing the 2. You are liable to pay for the difference between the 2. It is no good talking about how clean or not clean it is. Get some facts together and then you can be sure what you are arguing about.Loretta0 -
maybe i did not express my view very well - i consider the amount reasonable to clean a house of that type
if you dont have photographs of the original condition of the property it will be well nigh impossible to decide who is right and who is wrong - a judge will decide one way or the other - you may win - you may lose - going to court is nealry always a gamble0 -
The amount of money taken from deposits is outrageous. It seems that landlords will find any tiny excuse to rip you off.
Mine took £110 for cleaning... despite the fact that we spent the entire moving-out day cleaning the house, scrubbing floors, everything! The hoover that came with the house was very low quality so we had to hand-pick a lot of things off the carpet. Apparently I didn't have my curtains cleaned (well... I didn't think I'd have to) and she found some things under my bed. Surely not worth £110?
Your deposit should be protected by a scheme, so they will have to decide for you if you chose to go through them. However, I'm pretty sure that deposits are to cover damage - not wear and tear, and not cleaning. If you left the house clean, then it should be up to the landlords to put their own money in if they want it to be *professionally* clean...0 -
Just to keep you updated.
I wrote a letter to protest the charges, and they basically replied back saying tough, we can take it to the TDS if you want.
So I replied back saying please do.
Then, yesterday I received a cheque for the amount that wasn't in dispute from the deposit. And then today, I received another cheque. I can't for the life of me work out what for, but I now have more than my deposit back!
I can only guess they have made a mistake...
But a happy ending none the less

Maybe it's the interest due on your deposit, or maybe there is something deposit-related that they should have complied with and haven't done & so they're making sure you are happy..................0
