Budapest......anyone been?

Am thinking of a trip here for 4 days or so this August with my girlfriend, is it worth a visit?

Any tips or advice?

Cheers

    yes! we enjoyed it.
i would recommend to save your money and use public transport to and from the airport. you can search trip advisor for useful tips. also try this link for a good guide http://www.frommers.com/destinations/budapest/

Budapest is a lovely city, a bit like Prague but without all the commercialism. It's two cities in one with Buda on one side of the river Danube and Pest on the other side. Take a city tour as there is lots of history and architecture, the Houses of Parliament are modelled on the British parliament. Take a trip up the river Danube. Eating out is reasonabley cheap but why not try the New York kevehez restaurant once the haunt of Hungary's poets and writers, the interior is magnificent although from the outside you'd walk straight by. Get a good guide book and you'll find there's huge amounts to see. I'd definitely recommend a visit before the rest of the world discovers it.

Do you think she would like a nice noisy airshow?

I`m off there with some friends for a long weekend to see Budapest and the show, we plan to stay in Budapest. Its my first time so I`m also interested in any handy Hungarian hints and tips.

    Cheers,
