I think you mean v1.6 (rather than v1.0.6.30) as I've been running v1.5.2 and have been for ages...

I'm not sure whether the original post is news or history - v1.6.0.30 has been available at least since 14th July!

(Why do we get these posts anyway for software which tells you about available updates when you use it?)

I've just downloaded the new version after reading this and no, I had not been prompted to do so by the older version I was running.

Have hit a snag on Immunizing however, saying I cannot run unless I am administrator. So I looked at Faqs and it says how to overcome this if you have Vista. Followed the instructions but still have the same problem leaving a large percentage of items not immunized.
    Anybody sorted this?

Sorry I can't help you out with this one as I'm using XP with IE7 & immunization appears to be completing at a reasonable speed (<1 min).

Maybe take a browse around the S&D forums here?http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=4
I've found quite a few useful tips there based on other user experiences.

Regarding the point of starting this thread in the first place - it was to inform other users of this great (IMO) software that a new version was available & to prompt them to maybe take a look at it. I've used Spybot S&D since v1.4 & have never been prompted to update the main application.

If the new version has been available for such a lengthy time before I started this thread, might I suggest a more constructive & helpful course of action would be to start a similar subject thread to inform people sooner than I?

Indeed and thank you for posting as I certainly no message to update to a later version of spybot.

if so make sure spybot is closed, right click on the icon on the desktop
in the list it will say run as administrator
spybot will open and then you should be able to immunize all

Thanks, but I had tried this before and still have a lot not immunized. Looking at spybot forums seems to be a common problem on Vista and some people uninstalling until a better version is available. funny enough all the unprotected are on IE7, Firefox is fine.
