As you don't have any heavy requirements that would be ok, but it's a bit low on memory 1GB RAM is a bit stingy to run Vista in.
Have a look at Dell, and the list of their current offers at https://www.dmxdimension.com to see if there is anything nearer your budget.0 -
yes that is a good choice for a rock bottom price. If you look at the other HP machines under £300 in Ebuyer
http://www.ebuyer.com/search/?sortfilter=ascend&strSearch=&bolShowAll=true&intStoreID=5&intCatID=10&intMfrID=3&bolShowAll=true&limit=10&page=1
You will see that for a few quid more you will get a higher spec, but then again the machine you have been recommended is highly praised so it is probably a good buy as all you want is something for basic use0 -
woolys have two in their clearance that fit your requirementOOH MY!0

Look here The Great Cheapest Decent Laptop Hunt

the woolies ones take about 7days to deliver so think ebuyer best at moment....i am very impatient lol...thanks though.....thanks stamford - am looking now...
oh - and is ebuyer reccommended? are they trustworthy?
and do i need additional belking stuff?
thanks0 -
I hae used Ebuyer to buy a laptop and is was Ok. With my Samsung they has the offer of a weeks free use of their IT helpline, though do not know if they offer this with Hp machines. you may or may not want to take out an extended guarantee.0

thanks mike - i usually do look for extended guarantee on laptops - paid £6.90 a month for 8 months for son's last insurance and his laptop was a dear one .......im thinking of upgrading the one to the 2gb model for £296.97 which is still under £300...

A bit over your budget but these 2 look good and have 2GB RAM.
This one is a real bargain. It’s an ACER 17 inch screen with 2GB RAM (Memory) and 160GB (Storage space) with Windows Vista.
Price £399.99 inc VAT, plus £9.99 (£11.74 inc VAT) next day delivery.

The second one is also ACER but with a 15.4 inch screen with 2GB RAM (Memory) and 120GB (Storage space) with Windows XP.
Price £411.24 inc VAT, plus £9.99 (£11.74 inc VAT) next day delivery.
