Lloyds TSB 9 month 0% balance transfer

Just a warning, really - I applied for this card online from the Money Saving Expert website, got accepted, paperwork got done, made the balance transfer, no probs. When the first statement came, they'd charged me interest at 5.9%.
After three phone calls and a letter, I got them to correct this - despite them undertaking to respond in 10 working days, it took from 12 Sept to 3 Oct. I still had to make a payment to the account, of course, or run the risk of late payment charge. When the second statement came, they'd refunded the interest charged, but used the previous balance (which included the interest) to work out my continuing balance after my first payment, so it still wasn't right! Another letter has resulted in this (supposedly) being put right, although they say they can't issue a corrected statement to show me. They've made me a "goodwill" payment of £15. I'll be checking the next statement very closely... And while all this was going on, I was being sent their advertising blurb in the post, about their great "0% for 9 months on balance transfers card".
This is NOT a criticism of Money Saving Expert, which is brilliant - it's a "watch out if dealing with Lloyds TSB" message.
Happy saving...

It is always better to do the balance transfer over the phone. They confirm the rate and it is processed straight away. Never had a problem.

LloydsTSB have mucked up two BTs for me, leading to unwarranted interest charges of around £150 in total.
They did sort everything out with the minimum of fuss and grovelling apologies, so I was not out of pocket, but I didn't get any goodwill payments!
Their post-!!!!-up customer service was excellent, to be fair.

Actually, I did the balance transfer on the phone when I activated the card... they even called me at my office later to confirm that the amount transferred was OK...

But actually why did they need to call you later. Normally they do it there and then but then again I;m a risk 1 customer so it is possibly different for me.
  • Slightly off thread but connected! Are LTSB always as slow as they seem to be with my application.I applied online almost 2 weeks ago and not a sniff since. They confirmed my app by email,so I know they got it.I am tempted to apply with another co as I am getting near to BT time on a couple of cards.

I applied last week and received my agreement on Thursday of that week. Signed and returned it back and the BT went through yesterday and account is fully opened.
