LPG conversion - recommendations please
Can anyone recommend a good place to get the motor converted to LPG in the south east area?
I'm looking at tasso in hammersmith who seem to be very cheap and fast and they pick up the car too. But I reckon smaller outfits like dualfuel in Woking might be better but it's £350 more, 2 days longer and no pickup.
Any advice from people who've converted would be appreciated.
thanks, Keira

Maybe ask on lpg forums for some specific advice.
Also try asking local taxis/private hires.0 -

Go with which ever one is LPGA registered and will give you a certificate of installation, otherwise you'll have problems getting insurance.0

I've heard about one in River Road Barking - can't remember the name at the moment, but they did a good job on a Lexus for around £1600 which we felt was reasonable.
Think they might be called Alternative fuel - but don't quote me on that!Genie

LPGA registered does not guarantee good work.
Better to ask her insurer & other insurers if they would require anything, except notification of modification to LPG. Don't even mention the word certificate, let them tell you.
If they mention certificate, ask them what sort of certificate they would require. Again, allowing them to do the definition.
Depending on what they say, if they mention LPGA, you could ask if the certificate issued by your installer stated that the conversion was done in accordance with LPGA COP (code of practice) standards would that be acceptable?
If they do want an official LPGA cert. and you still find that one of the best installers in your area is not LPGA registered, you can have it converted and then ask an LPGA reg installer to inspect it and issue a certificate - for about £50.
It may be that they don't require the cert to be LPGA related at all, in which case the installer can issue his own cert.0 -
Word of mouth is probably the best way to go.
My recommendation was second hand via boss that thought the work done on the Lexus was good and done at a fair price.
Saying that, when we service a vehicle that is LPG converted, we don't touch that side. It has to go to whoever converted it if has problems or has to be serviced on the LPG side of things.Genie
