Buyer bought a DVD from me yesterday the 19th October, the same evening she leaves me a Neutral saying thx
. It's my second only ever neutral !
I don't get it?.....
Oh and i'm shipping their dvd today, 24 hours after payment!
Not bad for a neutral service eh?
Watch out sellers, some buyers have much higher standards from what I gather from this one! lol

There are several users on ebay who consider a neutral the right thing to do almost as a 'memo' to the seller. I have seen this before and wherever possible have immediately pulled their bids and blocked them on the basis they don't understand what they are doing and I don't want them near my auctions.
If I was in your position I would just have to email the buyer and explain that they may not be using the feedback system as it was intended, then I'd send the DVD 2nd class instead of first, just because I am in a bad mood today (OK, you don't have to do that last bit that's just my bad mood talking).
I would also not leave them any feedback at all, if they are new then they need all the feedback they can get, so by not leaving any they may get the hint you are not happy.
As for the neutral after 12 months it won't even show in your feedback total box so it is as good as gone then.

i would email them asking if they actually read ebays warning before leaving neg feedback. Actually i would be really mean & leave a neg for their leaving a neutral & tell them why. That is totally out of order & they need teaching a lesson.I also would post very slowly ..what is she going to do, leave neutral feedback??!!! Maybe i too am just having a bad day.0

Explain to her what she's done wrong, then ask for a mutual removal of feedback. If she's nice and simply made a mistake, she'll agree. Then send her her item.0

Thanks guys for your advice, I actually left her positive feedback before I got all these answers, i'm too nice.....
I guess I just don't want any risk of comebacks with chargebacks etc, I'm going away soon and don't want any complaints in my paypal accound.
How ironic though, I got another Neutral today because a DVD took 2 weeks to get from here in the UK to Ireland!....you can't please them all.0 -
I concur with Spinner's advice. Soolin's approach is a little harsh, though I suppose it's understandable when someone either hasn't bothered reading the "warning" screen that comes up before leaving neutral or negative feedback, or lacks very basic literacy skills to understand it. I'd be annoyed if someone spoiled my feedback stats just because they'd missed the point.0

I guess it is where you are coming from, for instance if I'm going into Boots or John Lewis's I don't leave feedback - It is a perfectly normal "Offer to treat" OK I like the price "I'll buy it" transaction. Now if a seller has a BIN on something I want, I pay they sent why should it be lit up in lights, EXCEPTIONAL service should get the big approval from you, come on guys - if everyone sent positives all the time then they are devalued. Neutral feedback is not bad, if it all goes well then it is a normal (neutral) transaction.
My fag machine doesn't leave feedback and I pay in advance - Should I complain?
I think (as a buyer) That the seller that answers my comments in the palpay box, tell me when it has actually been posted and enquires as to whether it arrived ok and whether I am happy with my purchase gets the big thumbs up - The rest are just well.........neutral.The quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0 -
I think you misunderstand the essence of eBay feedback. A positive feedback rating of under 99% is likely to be treated with suspicion. Positive is considered pretty much the default for a successful transaction, even if the item or service are not outstanding. Negative feedback is used if the transaction is unsatisfactory and the trading partner has made no effort to resolve the problem, e.g. if an item has not been received or differs significantly from the description and the seller has not been helpful, or if a customer has not paid and has failed to respond to reminders. Neutral feedback is generally used for problematic transactions where the trading partner has made at least some effort, e.g. if payment or delivery is very late.
If you attempt to leave neutral feedback on eBay, a screen will appear reminding you that you are about to leave unfavourable feedback on a public forum, and suggesting you first try to resolve the matter with your trading partner if you have not already done so. This warning should alert those unfamiliar with the system to the fact that neutral feedback is considered a blemish on the ebay member's record.
If you buy something on eBay and are moderately satisfied, please don't leave neutral feedback. That's not what it's for. If you don't think positive feedback is warranted when service is ordinary, just don't leave feedback at all.0 -

I didn't think suggesting not leaving feedback at all was harsh, not leaving feedback is a good way of expressing an opinion and surely better than just suggesting a neutral to be left in return for a neutral? As for posting it using 2nd instead of first, again I think using a slightly slower postage method is a neutral decision to make and reflects the fact that the buyer felt the need to leave a neutral.
In this case the buyer does need to be made aware that he is not using the feedback system as intended, for his own good. Leaving feedback before even receiving the item shows a distinct lack of understanding.

Sorry, I didn't explain what I meant properly. This is the bit I thought sounded a bit harsh:soolin wrote:I have seen this before and wherever possible have immediately pulled their bids and blocked them on the basis they don't understand what they are doing and I don't want them near my auctions.0
