Credit card for holidays

Hi guys its my first post here, i am looking for a nice credit card to use on my holidays abroad, the trouble is i live in Jersey in the channel islands,
Mr Nationwide, Mr Abbey and the Post office all say no because we are not part of the united kingdom,
but we are part of the British Isles can anyone please give me some advice on this matter. At the moment i use an M&S MasterCard to get some vouchers back, should i stick with this or should i change?
