Any one know of a good spot to watch the Liverpool Parade of Sail 2pm – 4pm Monday 21.07.08. I will be coming from the M6 and need a place to park. I suspect the crowds in the Albert dock will be too much for us. Please consider both sides of the river.

Saw some signs today for Park & Ride for Tall Ships just off Junction 6 of M53. Don't know how much it is though or where the bus will take you.0

join the m62 to Liverpool from the m6 & follow the yellow signs for the tall ships, there is a park & ride system in place, directions are given on all major roads into the city. I think your nearest one might be in Speke (m6 - m62 -a5300 - following signs), depends of course if you're going N or S on m6!0

The best place will be to head for Crosby Beach (avoid town/Albert dock)
its about 3-5 miles long you can also see Anthony Gormleys "Another Place"
a series of statues along the beech
you can get there by following signs from M6 - signs for M57 then follow signs for Crosby/Another place
there will be plenty of parking spaces along the beach
the ships are leading out along the Mersey out along Crosby beach around 4pm
personally I would head for the Blundellsands area (very posh part) find somewhere to park if not on the grassed area find somewhere in the street
by the way I'm from Crosby, although I'm off on Holiday on Sunday so I'll miss it
if you need any more info, I'll be back on line in the morning0 -
For those with Sat Nav I would head for
Crosby Leisure Centre
Mariners Road
Crosby
L23 6SX
this is roughly in the middle of Crosby Beach
an ideal spot to watch them heading towards you then out to the Irish seas
there should be plenty of off street parking here
another place to head for is (again for Sat Nav users)
HM Coastguard
Hall Road West
Crosby
Liverpool
Merseyside
L23 8SY
this is the end of Crosby beach, again here there will be plenty of parking on the sea front as well as off street parking
even more info on here

sorry to repeat myself but i would avoid the city centre/Albert Dock (lack of parking etc)
head for Crosby 3-5 miles of beach where you will be able to see them heading towards you then out towards the Irish sea0 -
Another tip if you are heading to the Crosby seafront bring your own refreshments etc
as there is very little on offer in this area apart from a "very small" cafe at Crosby leisure centre and the odd Ice cream van ( you will probably have a couple at Crosby leisure and the same at Hall road
if you are heading in from the M57, i would call at Asda (its at the end of the M57) just follow signs for Aintree racecourse, stock up in there, you can also get a nice meal in the cafe at Asda
then come out and turn right then follow the signs for Docks/Crosby etc0 -
One of the best places to watch the tall ships will be on the Wirral side, basically because its miles of promenade whereas Liverpool side is miles of docks that you can't access.
There's some stuff on the Wirral Council website about getting there... http://www.wirral.gov.uk/News/news_0000709.html
Parking will be a pain I'm sure, but you could consider paying to park in a multistorey or something in Birkenhead, then walking down to Woodside or catching the train to New Brighton.
There's also a million miles of residential streets, slightly out of the way, that you could park in as long as you don't mind walking for ten minutes to get down to the river.

just a word of warning if your going to drive down dunningsbridge road
there is 3 or 4 speed cameras on each side of the road.
I'm of to crosby marina to see them tomorrow0 -
Have a look here : http://www.tallshipsliverpool.co.uk/parade-of-sail
I'm going to go down to Woodside to watch from there
Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0
