I need to send 1 fax. Is there any way I can do this from my PC for free? I am using Windows Vista.
I do not want to sign up for free trials which need a credit card.

If you have a fax modem and the basic software with it, then you can do it from your desktop for free.
Web based, probably many, there is a free 30-day trial of eFax here: www.efax.co.uk but I'm not sure if it needs a credit card.
There are plenty of places on the high street that can fax for you, copy centres, some libraries etc.
Or why not just scan it in, ask for their e-mail address and send it?0 -
www.efax.co.uk needs a credit card. I am not keen on signing up for "free" trials - been stung before. I will take it to high street as you suggest.
Some companies are still living in the dark age. Paypal will not accept e mail attachment and insist this document sent by fax."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I need to fax a cover sheet and a copy of a letter to them. The sites you posted would have been useful for plain text fax. I will make a trip to my local post office. It is not expensive, but a pain to get there and so much easier if they would accept an e mail attachment.
Thanks for your help guys."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

DON'T use efax, they used to be free but have been taken over. We run a guest house so getting faxes through the email is useful. Yesterday they phoned to say they now limit free fax accounts to 20 pages per month and we'd received 37. Therefore if we do not pay them £7.50 per month from next week they'd terminate our account!!!!!!!!!. Some notice for a customer of 5 years!
We've now moved to use faxtastic it's free to receive faxes and you can buy a few credits at a time to send faxes.0 -

If you do send quite a few faxes, it might be a good idea to invest in one (I don't think they would be more than a fiver)
