Spare SATA hard disks: what to do with 'em?

I just upgraded my backup array, so I've got four 320GB SATA hard disks sitting in a corner gathering dust. I don't have any other SATA-capable computers which need upgrading, so...

What can I do with spare high-capacity hard disks? Suggestions on a postcard, please :D

If you have a spare fullsize drive slot, buy an Icy Box IB168 drive caddy. It has one important difference to most caddys, it has no 'tray' to mount the HD to. This means you only need to buy one unit for each PC, not one for each hard drive. You'll have 1.2Tb of easy backup space

I've had mine for about a year, and I'm very happy with it.

Consider buying one (or two?) drive enclosure(s) that would permit you to run them in a RAID array?

    I would.

Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

Leopard, epninety: Fair ideas, but I've already got 3TB in my new RAID, and it's in a hotswap bay that's taken up all my internal slots. I don't think I've even got the power to drive a 5th disk (having an 80W power supply makes you think about what power you've got ;) )

I'll have em :) Other ideas (although I feel my first is clearly the best ;) )...

    1. Another raid or nas? can never have too much backup.
    2. Ebay. They'll still make a decent amount.
    3. Create a web server and host some friend's websites.
    4. Create a server accessible via web and sell remote backup for others.
    5. Run a competition somewhere for them.
    6. Just give em away. To me. Because... well... "Free space: 65 MB" just hurts :(
