Been advised that should have the split load board replaced. This is the comments on the docket:
RCD100A/100MA Recommended 100A/30MA, broken fuse holder on Wyles board
New split load board be fitted C/W 100A/30MA RCD
Been quoted at about £200 - sound reasonable?

It sounds too cheap, the split load board should be a RCD / RCD split not a 100A main switch / RCD split board.
After July 1st the new wiring regs came in (BS7671:2008), this means all circuits should be RCD protected when altered. When a consumer unit is changed all the circuits are altered.
When work like this is carried out the Earthing (Bonding) to the water and gas pipework should be installed / upgraded / verified as appropriate.
If you are in England / Wales the work will fall under Part P, you should ask and confirm via the weblink if the person you are using is Part P qualified.
You should use a competent person for the work, links below

OK thanks - bit beyond my knowledge is electrics. I can just about change a plug!!!
It was just a recommendation by the guy who did my light and socket install as he said when the power trips, it all goes. Would be better to have just the sockets go and let the lights stay0 -
Just on a side issue, did you get any paperwork for the light install?baldly going on...0
