Child's First Passport - How Long ?

Hiya

My mum's husband has passed away and my poor mum is all alone overseas.

I need to get a passport for DD choppers and wanted to know if anyone had applied for a passport and how long it really took.
The ''By appointment only at passport office counters – guaranteed same day Premium service'' is NOT AVAILABLE TO US, as it is her first passport.

These are the different options do have available to us:
* By post - not guaranteed standard three week service
* At certain Post Office® branches – two week Check & Send service*
* By appointment only at passport office counters guaranteed one week Fast Track service

Anyone had any experience of these and how long (exact days if you can remember) and how long ago was it ????

Sorry about the specific Q, but time is of the essence (as is money) and I also have to deal with getting DS2 another country's passport (long story) and visas for all of us for the other country where my mum is ...

Because of the situation, you should ring them and ask for the best option for you. There may be things they can do in extenuating circumstances. Do you also have the capacity to provide all the details required (you know, birth certificates, mothers and fathers details) or are there any problems. As well as asking for advice on time taken on here, I would ring and ask the IPS for help too.

I have just had three renewals done. One came back exactly 7 days from the PO check and send being done and the other two exactly 6 days. However, they are not first passports and there was a lot less documentation to check.

    Hi

I sent our little boys passport off on monday (about 3 weeks ago) and it came the Friday next (inbetween this they had to write to me as I forgot to enclose his BC) so less than 2 weeks! Cost £46.00 for a 5 yr passport, what a rip off!

Oh I sent it in the post myself not with the post office!
  • I made an appointment at the Passport office for the fast track service and the passport arrived 5 days later. Paid £80-odd quid for the privelege though!

My son's took two and a half weeks and I got it back about a fortnight ago. I did not use the check and send at the post office as I used to work for a post office and know what they look for....
make sure your writing DOES NOT cross the lines that is my tip, and just follow the instructions if you decide not to use check and send....
