So far we have bought 7 bikes from Sterling House with no problems at all. I'll also be buying another one from there in the next couple of weeks :jShaz xx

It does depend on use, for heavy or medium use I'd find something else, for light \ ocasional use, people have said they're ok. One was tested in a recent edition of a mountain bike mag and the 3 conclusions were:-
- Parts had to be replaced to make it safe to ride offroad even when it was taken straight out of the box (its not that bits were missing, its just they weren't good enough quality to do the job....)
- The tester got a fairly big adrenaline buzz out of it as he was certain it would experience a critical failure for most of the ride
- they finally stopped when they broke something major (I think the pedal crank snapped or something)
BUT they are cheap.....
They are cheap bikes made of cheap components and heavier frames. You really do get what you pay for....

We ordered 2 bikes on the bogof offer for the kids for xmas- checked them out the other day whilst kids were at school - and they look fine to me! After all they will be grown out of them in 2 years!
My answer would be go for it!! :T0 -
They rust just as quickly as an expensive bike when the end up at the bottom of the garden after a couple of months use if they are bought for kids."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0

Yep I'm with the majority. We've had several, and some of the accessories. Can't fault 'em, and would thoroughly recommend 'em to anyone wanting a Xmas present for their child.
We've had dearer ones and sterling house bikes, and franklly, the kids are just as likely to dump the expensive ones as the cheap ones at teh side of the road, cos they've seen a friend or fancy climbing a tree. At least with the cheap ones, you'll be less gutted when they come home with the chain hanging off and ducks stuck in the spokesI ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

I have to say I agree, you do get what you pay for. The three bikes we bought from them have had no end of problems - parts falling off them, bad brakes, etc. My kids only used them to go on family bike rides so were not hashing them. I wouldn't buy from them again.0 -
I have bought several bikes over the years from them and would recommend them.
Had problem with incorrect wheel but they sent replacement next day.0 -
