Next Catalogue CCA Advice

Firstly, this is my first post here so "hello"! I've been a lurker for some time now, but need some advice on something. I'm actually posting on behalf of a good friend who I am trying to help out. Basically she has signed up for a Next Catalogue account in her name for someone else - who has since done a runner - leaving her with a fairly substantial debt. I've been reading up on the whole CCA request route, but am unsure what to advise her. I've come across a few conflicting answers on this subject, so I'm really after some clarification... Here's what I do know...
The account was opened online, before April 2007.
She hasn't signed anything that she's aware of, apart from when receiving parcels.
I'm pretty sure its been passed to a DCA, but would have to double check.
Would it be worth trying the CCA request route? I'm just a little concerned about biting off more than I chew, and causing her further problems. I've managed to reclaim creditcard charges and things like that for myself (since finding this site at the end of last year) but with this being someone else life I'm a little unsure of what to do next.
TIA
Phil

Requesting a CCA should not cause any trouble. You are legally entitled to request this at any time. There is alot more detail in the thread below, but it is usually better if it has ben passed to a DCA as there is less chance that they will have the CCA.

If your friend is struggling, suggest she looks at the site and possibly post up a statement of affairs - we may be able to help her make some savings. Hopefully she now knows not to take credit out for anyone else again. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
