Prepayment meter
I have a prepay electricity meter which I top up with cash every so often. I have a quick query - do you think that in the current climate of rising bills that the price via my method is static....the number of units I use is the same, and its the same cash amount that I top up with. Would it still be cheaper to change over to billed electricity?
I hope my query makes sense!!

The price on a PP meter will chyange just like any other payment methods. They can change the price on your meter and you will need to top up more (or less) often.
In the vast majority of circumsatnces it is cheaper to move to an online monthly direct debit account.0 -
How do they change the price on the meter though? I dont feel like I put much money on the meter - £20 every month or two.....would this really be less if I went to bills? Although, I do live alone so maybe that is reasonable...I really have no idea!!!0

If you top up your meter with a smartcard or key they can pass messages to your meter through that.
If you top up with paper tokens they need to send someone round to change the price. (Some suppliers will ask you to pay back what you have underpaid).
The price you pay per kWh is less on a monthly DD so, you would be paying less (although it might be worth double checking on switching sites)0
