Sorry for silly question but going to Majorca and not sure what to take. As going All Inclusive dont need much but unsure. Should we take Travellers Cheques and change when there (very quiet resort though so could get stung on rate in hotel) or should we change here for Euros?
Any ideas? Thanks
Either way looking at the rate wont get many Euro's for £ on either method!!

Just back from there I took cash, the exchange rate either side of the water is irrelevant at the moment, anything from e1.22 to e1.23.5 to the £ unless your buying a house. HTH"Did you hear about the frog that broke down on the motorway???? They toad him away!"0 -
Take £50 cash with you, get the rest out from cash machines. You'll get a far better rate than a change bureau will give you.
Even better, do your spending on an Abbey Zero or Nationwide credit card.0 -
Nationwide Flex is the best rate - bit of a toss-up between other ATM cards and cash, but won't be a "oh my gawd" difference for £100 or less (wouldn't bother with traveller's cheques).
One thing to watch out for are the exchange bureaux offering higher than average rates - they usually have a bit of very very small print at the bottom of the sign, "this rate for transactions over £1000". As Maz said, 1.22 to 1.23 is probably a reasonable "non-con" rate for cash at the moment.0 -
Just to confirm the above, the rates in all the shops/bureaus are between 1.21 & 1.22 for sterling. We've just returned from Cala Bona on Tuesday, having changed into Euros before we left. Don't know about Travellers cheques though as I haven't used them for about 15 years.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!)
