London to Weymouth

I need to be in Weymouth early on the 20th August.

I'm new to the UK and don't know my geography well yet. Is Weymouth near Bournemouth?

I usually get a funfare journey on National Express to Bournemouth - about £5 worth.

When I search on the National Express site for London to Weymouth trips it lists the destinatin as Weymouth but with Bournemouth in brackets. And at a price of £37.20! Surely if this was Bournemouth as indicated in the brackets it wouldn't be £37.20!

Weymouth is about 25 miles from Bournemouth. The National Express might travel via Bournemouth to Weymouth.

Ok, what is the cheapest way to get to Weymouth from London?

If it helps, I can stay with a friend in Bournemouth the night before. Do buses go from Bournemouth to Weymouth? He actually lives 2 buses away from Bournemouth and 1 bus away from Poole.

I've just checked the bus times. Earliest from Poole is 9:50 and doesn't get in until 11:05.

If you need to be any earlier then the train is your only option 06:24-07:09 £10.50 for a single or you can come all the way from Waterloo 07.35-10.35 for £20.

National Express go from Bournemouth to Weymouth for £5.30. If you play around on the National Express website you should be able to get a funfair to Bournemouth or Poole from London for around £8 each way, with a separate ticket from there to Weymouth for around £5 - £7 return. Might even be the same coach!

Prices might vary a bit as you know how long you'll be staying in Weymouth etc.

There are buses (see here) but no idea of prices, sorry. Good luck!
