in-car chargers - compatible with USA cig lighters?
Apologies if the answer is already here or the question should be asked on one of the other bits of the board, BUT before I pack umpteen car chargers for phones etc, does anyone know if they will work in the cigarette lighter socket of a car hired in the USA?
TIA

yes, almost all car chargers are universal (I can only remember one Italian car having a non-standard lighter socket).====0

Most of todays phones ipods etc can be charged from a USB socket.
This gadget or similar might reduce the number the number of adaptors you need to carry, there are also mains powered USB sockets available for use indoors.
I now travel with the one charger (came with a MP3 player)and the USB lead for each gameboy, phone ipod etc. Saves alot of weight and bulk compared to the proper chargers.
