    Hi folks,

Can someone please advise me on the best place to get HP cartridges at the moment.

I have an HP Deskjet 840C and want compatible cartridges such as the Jet Tec ones as they hold more ink, 45 ml for colour.

I last used Cartridge People, who are doing a 2 colour cartridges for £15.98 deal, but the cartridges are 39 ml.

    Thanks!

Tesco do their own brand to fit HP printers, not sure of the sizes but they are definately cheaper than HP ones.

A site i used for cheap remanufactured HP 56 cartridges:

    http://www.inkinablink.co.uk/

I bought four HP 56 19ml (remanufactured) for £17.97 delivered (approx £4.50 each) but there is a sale on at the moment. Delivery is pretty quick and quality has been as good as HP originals thus far.

For HP 56 original cartridges i have used:

    http://www.findmysupplies.co.uk/home.tem

£21.27 for HP 56 twin pack and free delivery (for orders over £20). Note that this site deals with original HP cartridges only.

The first replacment black cartdridge hp21 i brought from tesco as it was cheaper than the hp one

i then brought the ink refill kits off ebay - both black and color for £10 all together which will give me 3 - 4 refills each which will have saved me £30+

Made the mistake of ordering from the cartridgepeople - they took 4 days to despatch and then it went missing in the post. Their answer was that they couldn't do anything for 15 working days - Royal Mail don't deem it lost until then.

So no Ink and no refund for 25 days - so much for their website promise!

"Speed and quality of delivery is very important to us, we want you to be more than satisfied with our service"

    I don't think so!

Cleaning blocked H.P. ink jet cartridges.

I have a Hewlett-Packard 710 C. and I've found over the years that always the yellow colour gets blocked. I suppose it runs out first.

Filling it with new ink and doing all the recommended cleaning practices using the cleaner that comes with these refill kits etc, to no avail. Even soaking the ink-jet head for several hours in the cleaning fluid didn't work, It remained blocked and I didn't want to buy a new cartridge.

Looking on the Internet to see if there was any better cleaning methods, I read that the people who recondition inkjet cartridges use steam cleaning. This gave me an idea.

I have an espresso machine with a steamer on it for frothing the milk. Now, if you use this method be extremely careful as you are in danger of giving yourself a very bad burn if you are not careful. Keep your fingers and hands well away. Of course if you haven't got a espresso machine toughs. I suppose you could always borrow your friends one though eh.

Put some ink into the blocked colour ink reservoir, otherwise you won't know when it is unblocked.

Switch on the espresso machine so that it has a good head of steam and ready for action.

Prop up the cartridge and arranged the steam nozzle about 10 mm above the ink-jet head and get your fingers and hands well away.
Give a couple of one or two second burst of steam, spraying onto the blocked small holes of the ink-jet head, dissolving and blowing out the dried ink.

Turn the cartridge the right way round and check to see if it is unblocked by placing it onto a kitchen towel and see if you now have three colours soaking into the tissue. Repeat the process if still blocked.

I have kept one cartridge operating for two years now using this method.

    Good luck.
  • I've been buying all my HP cartridges from Inkcapital for the past year. They're original HP cartridges - I tried refills from Cartridge World and they didn't work at all, which really annoyed me because they wouldn't give me a refund and blamed my printer! That kind of put me off refilled or remanufactured ones which probably has cost me a lot of money!

Usually with Inkcapital, they send a voucher in the parcel for free delivery on your next purchase.

HOWEVER, I am going to try the recomendations on this thread and see if I can get anything cheaper.

Thanks everyone, I'm so glad I found MSE!

I buy compatible Epsons for my DX4400 and genuine HP cartridges locally and get free same day delivery. It's pretty cheap and when I run out of ink, I need it straight away and they do some deals for buying 10 at a time.

Cant remember the shop name but I know they deliver up to 8pm in Blackburn and Accrington and the phone number is 728834

ps. Its original HPs for me, I wont buy remanufactured ink ever again - i used to get them from different shops and only about half of them were any good. What a waste of money!
  • these have got original 12a's at £49.99 all in inc delivery
