Camcorders with or without photograph function

Hi, I am looking to buy a new camcorder any day now and was planning to get a mini dv with the photograph function. Now I am not so sure!

I already have a digital camera (3/4 years old) and still find it good. I was thinking of getting a camcorder with the option of digital photos and thought it would make it really handy. I have recently read/heard the photograph quality isn't that great on these camcorders. I am not planning to stop using my current camera but thought on holiday etc it would save carrying two pieces of kit around.

Can anyone advise what is the best option?

    Part of the Furniture
It's not going to be as good as a stand-alone digital camera.

I have a cannon DV with a card for stills. Great idea but the stills are very low res.
A bit odd...you can also use the card to make rubbish movies too if you want!
