We have just got a new router with sky and it appears my laptop does not support it. I need to be able to connect via WPA-PSK ( I have WEP )but I do not have this option on my PC (Packard bell easynote) the tech guy from SKY said I would have to take it to PC shop and get them to change my connections. Can I do it? If so how? Thanks I would really appreciate help here.

Laptop is 4 years old, Not sure about service pack 2 will check - checked but can't find it - what is it?, can't change settings cos other 3 PC's connect fine. Any other ideas?XP? do you have service pack 2 installed? how old is the laptop?
you can change the sky router to security to wep if need be, but it is less secure than wpa0 -
Ok - so how can I check I have the latest wireless card drivers and xp service pack 2?it may or may not support wpa, you will need to check that you have the latest wireless card drivers, and XP service pack 2 or later.
if it still doesn't give you wpa, your options are:
change the other 3 to wep
use it wired
buy either a wireless usb dongle for £15 or so, or a wireless pcmcia card0 -

Hi againare you sure wpa isn't supported, have you looked in wireless settings?
if so, go to packard bell website to see if you can find later drivers, assuming wireless is built-in
Definately not there, have checked website and I appear to have latest, what now?
Ok - have checked website again and looked in wrong place, now it appears there are other updates but I'm not sure what area I should be looking in for wireless updates0 -
