It will get around all of them, except fraud. So, unfortunately, it offers no protection from people going on a spending spree with stolen credit card details etc. Whether you attract them or not depends on what you are selling.

Listed it with a reserve ( min it would really be worth) and Buy Now ( top end value ) on a 1 day list

sold as buy now to what would seem a regular

Sorry lapat, but there are only two reasonable excuses I can think of for posting advice in a PM:

    1) The advice explictly contravenes the rules of this site, being either illegal, immoral etc.

    2) The advice would be ridiculed by the regulars who post in the group.

If neither of the above are true, please accept my most humble apologies, but remember that by withholding your comments from the rest of the group, you may discourage people from helping you in the future.

    Hi

There are 2 ways to reduce scamming especially on mobile phones:

    1) Use the pre-approved bidder preference, i.e. the buyer needs to contact you before he can bid/purchase the phone. You can use the opportunity to verify his identity (landline number, address on 192.com), and maybe strike a deal straight away.

    2) Block bidders who does not have a Paypal account. In my experience, this does not affect the final auction price as long as you have a good feedback (100+). For high value goods I would not offer Paypal automatically in the auction (remember you are only blocking bidders who does not have a Paypal account), if they wish to pay using Paypal I go through the same identity verification process as above.

    Kind regards
