Broken Glass Table Top

hi

purchased an all weather patio set from my local garden centre 18 months ago(£300).
the table top is made of tempered glass.
at the weekend,cleaning the glass as usual after bbq,when it shattered.

the garden centre says that if it was under 12 months old they would
replace it,but they say as it is well past it,it is now the manufacturers
responsibility and it is up to me to speak to them.

are they right,or should they be speaking to them,and what are my chances
of getting a replacement

About as much chance of someone replacing an 18 month old mug that had been broken...
