I took the Hitachi unit back to Argos and replaced it last Saturday, but the new one seems to be playing up more than the last. Neither did they insist I write down what was wrong with it, so the repair people wouldn't have a chance of finding the problem being highly intermittent (I gave them a report anyway). Makes me wonder if they do a quick test and just send it back out to some other poor soul who can't be bothered to replace it?

I am thinking a buying a more expensive model rather than just replacing it again.

Can anyone recommend a Freeview+ Hard Disc recorder (+ means PDC and series record) that actually works? I'm thinking of going for this

i personally would avoid bush like the plague but thats just me. sometimes you just pay for what you get.
my advice is buy this humax one cost you £170 but humax machines where some of the first out there and there rep is exceedingly good just ask around. also do not need the freeview plus business anymore you just set it to record from the on board electronic programme guide which on this machine is 8 day not 7day on the bush.

also the humax pushes out 720p where the bush does not

DO they actualy need the DVD bit?

Why not upgrade their VM cable box to a V+ it will do all the recording they need.

Check their package at the same time you may be able to renegotiate and effectivly get the upgrade for little cost.
