Have been with TPS for ages and it does cut down 95% of calls, but funnily enough the one company that still continually phones is bt0

If you are a BT customer you can also sign up for BT Privacy free of charge, which includes free caller display (used to cost per quarter) and also includes registration on the TPS as above.
I have BT Privacy yet I still get charged for Caller Display

I was thinking this myself .......I loved that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry gets a marketing call and he says "I'm a bit busy at the minute, why don't you give me your home number and then I'll call you back later". The person on the other end of the phone says he can't do that, and Jerry says "I guess you don't want people calling you at home" and then puts the phone down.

Or there is this method ......

Seriously though, TPS is the first port of call.0 -

Doesn't that mean that at some point in the past you gave them permission to call you with 'information' about their products?
A long time ago I did exactly that. When I got bored with them phoning me (years ago, now) I asked how I could stop them and the information provider ( i.e. sales person) did it straight away. I've had no further calls.0 -

You shouldn't do, it's part of the free Privacy package.
Ring them up and get it sorted out and try and get a refund for all the months you've had privacy but have been paying for caller display too.0 -
If you still get unsolicited marketing calls having registered with TPS you could try making a complaint against the offending caller.
No experience of doing this, but may be worth a try. Especially if it's the same organisation that's blatantly ignoring the rules.
Note that complaints can't be made for silent calls, fax tones or text messagesWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

Hmmmm just called them and they said I'd been charged because I don't use BT for any of my calls!
Is this right? I do use Primus and 18185 so calls never get routed through BT but I don't recall seeing anything about this when I signed up for BT Privacy.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
often these people are on commission, or targets, so answer the phone and as soon as they stop taking, tell them to hold on as there is somebody by the front door, now continue watching the tv while the wait and wait.
I got one really hopping mad, if you have the time, got him to explain all about his product, then I asked about discount, delivery times, days, got put through to his manager. At the end I asked to be removed from their database and I told them I was not interested in their product and the phone was violently slammed down
GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time.

Chameleon - yes it states on the BT privacy section of their website (and has done for a long time) that customers who don't use BT for at least some calls will be charged for caller display. The easiest was is to do a few cheap local calls without using the divert.

Not sure if that link works but it clearly states what calls you have to make to get it free.Adventure before Dementia!0
