If I want to add physical USB ports what key words should I use to search for them on the internet? I'll try the hub solution first though. What kind of connection speed do you lose from using hubs (Internet and keyboard/mouse).

Mouse and KB will use a negligible amount of bandwidth, so the remainder of the USB (USB1 probably, if it's an old laptop and only has the one socket) bandwidth will be available to the broadband. You've already said that your broadband's pretty slow so I don't see it affecting it at all.

As for what to buy, it'll be something like this that you're after, but double check your laptop has the appropriate slot.

It's a desktop not a laptop but if using a hub would only lose that much bandwidth then a hub it is. I've been put off because I thought using a hub there'd be some conflict. My PC only has 10GB of memory and 216MB RAM. I don't use it to store anything, just the internet.

Ah, I think Isofa threw me off and made me think it was a Laptop.

In that case, the card to add more USB ports would be about the same price, maybe a little cheaper, but might be a bit fiddly to fit.

The only problem I can imagine with the cheap hub is that it won't be powered, so you might find that you can't use both the USB modem and the USB keyboard and mouse at the same time, you'll need a powered hub, which will set you back £5 - £10.

Fitting new USB ports won't be a problem. I just hoped there'd be a cheaper and easier option with an adaptor. I'll try the hub thing first, but wonder why nobody has made a USB adaptor for wireless keyboard/mouses.

What do you mean a USB adaptor? The Keyboard and mouse are both USB aren't they? I'm not sure what kind of adaptor you mean.

The kind of adaptor I mean is a wireless KB and mouse that is USB that can be put into the PS2 holes.

Ah, ok. It wouldn't be physically possible with yours because (I'm assuming) both the KB and mouse connect to the PC via the same USB port, and there's the issue with the PS2 ports not being able to supply enough current to power them.
