not earned a lot but learned a lot

Since being on MSE I thought apart from saving money on utilities and changing mortgage etc,that I'd not saved all I could.
But I've just realised I've saved lots and lots but because it's here and there I haven't really counted it
It struck home recently when arrangements had to be made for the christening of my newest grandchild,there had been 4 previously and it cost me an arm and a leg each time .
Venue for christening buffet......................................£120
Buffet ,done by caterers.......................................... £120-£160
Christening outfit for the child being christened ...........£30-£40
Outfit for myself ......................................................£60
Christening cake ...................................last one was £43
accomodation ........................................................£80-£120
etc
etc
total....................................................................£453-£523:eek:
This time
Venue for christening buffet....................................at daughters home
Buffet ..................................................................£56 doing it ourselves
Christening outfit for the child being christened ...........£23 worn once ebay(it's beautiful)
Outfit for myself ....jazzed up old one with accessories...£16
Christening cake ...................did it ourselves ,less than £12
accomodation.................travelodge £10rooms.............£40
