The thing I hate most about Orange is the way they play the recorded message "Orange is committed to providing excelling customer services." In my experience nothing could be further from the truth.
Contract 1
Everything went fine until I moved house. I called to change my address but they got most of it wrong including the postcode meaning I didn't get my bills. Three times they promised to change my address but they just didn't do it. It only got changed when I went on the Orange website and did it myself. When I asked for the bills to be resent they charged me for them. When I asked for the money to be refunded the agent on the phone tried to justify not refunding because I had always lived at the then correct address on my account.
PAYG
Decided to downgrade after the minimum term and accepted the offer of going to PAYG to save faffing around with PAC codes. As soon as I switched I asked for the unlocking code for my phone. They wanted £20, no problem and I gave them my card details.
A week went by and no code so I called them again to be told I had to be with them for three months to get the code. Fine, I asked for my £20 back. They agreed but a week later no refund. Called again chasing it up, this time I was put on hold. Ten minutes later, still on hold. It wasn't costing me anything so I plugged my phone in and left it on loudspeaker. After 1 hour 45 minutes of being on hold they cut me off.
So, I was left in a situation where Orange wouldn't give me an unlocking code and wouldn't give me my money back either.
Contract 2
Just signed up for this. Accepted an all day timeslot of 9am until 5.30pm. Guess what? Didn't turn up. Called to chase it up, after I gave my details I was cut off. Called again and was told the delivery was being done on Monday. Nobody is in on that day so heaven knows when I'll get my phone.
I should probably stop going with Orange but it's just where the best deals on when I look seem to take me.

They Are LIARS!!!
I can honestly say they are the worst Network i have ever been with.
T-Mobile (current) i have to give credit for, they have helped me out many times and I cannot fault them.
I once had an orange phone, it was just PAYG, i was tempted in by the 1000 free texts if i topped up with £15 more a month.
After a few days of not getting them i phoned them up and enquired about it, they informed me that i have to wait one month to get them, i accepted this and waitied.
The following month...guess what...STILL no free texts so i phoned them and complained about this...
They told me that i was never entitled to the texts, i questioned why but they gave me rubbish back, i told them i had been entitled to it, i followed the terms and they failed to deliver, I even had the text messages from the network to prove i was entitled.
Gave up on Orange, useless network!
My Friend signed upto them becuase they were cheap, i warned him...he didnt listen and now regrets it...
If they have not supplied you with the service you asked for (the unlock code) then i'm sure you should be able to claim it back on your card...
I'm sure martin has also published an article about unlocking phones too!:money:0 -
My phone is one that can't be unlocked for free. With regards to the £20 I sent a complaint to their correspondence department and they gave me the code for free (refunded my £20), also gave me £20 of free credit.0

i tried to phone broadband support what a joke three phone calls all to India of course then after being on the phone about 25 minutes the line went dead.:footie:0

Whenever I call customer services, either the indian call centre can't understand me, hasn't heard of the offer/service I am asking about, or their computer isn't working and I need to call back later.
Also, their network is technologically inferior to other mobile networks in the UK because they use a higher frequency 1800MHz instead of 900MHz, which means that (getting sciencey here) their network suffers more from attenuation during bad weather and you get a poor signal.
Just don't go with Orange. Whatever they offer initially isn't worth the long term hassle.0 -
Sounds like I'm the only one who hasn't ever had a problem with Orange. I've never been put through to some Indian call centre. I've had a good experience with them.0

I am off to bed now as up for work in the morning but had a horrendous time with Orange both on Broadband and contract phone. Worst company I have ever known IMHO0

I use text top up with Orange because it's the easiest way of topping up for me. I called Orange the other month because I wanted to change my registered debit card. The customer services assistant on the phone (who, yes, was Indian!) was very helpful and at the end of the call, he said he was going to give me some free text messages because I'd "been so nice" to him.
I thanked him, but to be honest, was a bit taken aback. I hadn't been particularly chatty or anything on the phone, and I felt a bit sad that callers were so horrible to him that just being polite counted as the height of kindness.
Moral of the story is, if you have a problem with Orange, don't take it out on the customer services assistants as they're really not bad people and they will try their best to help you if you're just civil.
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with Orange, OP.0 -
I would check that you actually got those texts. I was promised lots of things by Orange; a refund of my duplicate statement charge, 25p to cover the cost of calling customer services, a refund for the £20 I paid for something they wouldn't provide, delivery of a phone that I paid for, etc. but didn't get them at least not without making several follow-up calls.
I work in a call centre myself so I'm mindful of the fact that people working there aren't personally responsible for anything that's happened so I've always been polite. It didn't seem to make any difference in that case...
Just ported over to T-Mobile and so far their Customer Services has been much better than Orange in my experience.0 -
I couldn't agree more. Orange customer services are the worst of any call centre I've experienced.
I've been trying to get a problem sorted out today and I've been cut off four times so far, either as the connection is made or after holding to be transferred to someone else who can help me.
I shall have to go for a walk around the garden before I try again, or I shall be less than my usual courteous, civilised self by the time I actually get through.
