if recycle bin has been emptied, can the data be retrieved?

If the item was on the desktop try system restore, otherwise its probably already been over written by now sorry

Hi,

Yes it can be recovered. All data that has be deleted hasnt really been deleted, just the first blocks of the file has been changed. There are programmes out there that can scan your computer and find deleted files.Apple Mac's have an option to secure delete files.

All it does when you delete something is like removing the listing to it on a contents pay in a book the "page" is still there untill something is wrote over the space.

One other point to bear in mind is that any significant disk activity (i.e. anything that writes data to the disk) will reduce the chance of recovering any deleted data. This is particularly a problem if the disk has little free space and/or has a high level of fragmentation.

So you should avoid using it for anything other than recovery attempts.
