Do I need a full-time job to get a credit card?

in Credit cards
I'm 19 and currently working part-time, whilst I look for a full-time job. I'm strictly speaking a student, but I'm taking a Gap Year before University to get some industry experience. But, I can't get special financial offers for students, because I'm not yet registered on any course.
I have had an overdraft since January, which I increased to £150 in August without any problem. Also, I've got a checkbook (which I've had for 3 years) and a Visa Debit card which I've had since about February (this is all with Nationwide by the way).
Whilst I don't need a credit card at all, I'm thinking of applying for one so that I can build my credit rating up. I'm thinking of applying for "Egg Money" (http://new.egg.com/visitor/0,,3_79731--View_1654,00.html) as it's one of the recommended cash back cards, and it also pays 4% for a positive balance on the card.
I'm worried that because I don't work full-time they will reject my application ... is this true? Would I be better off waiting until I get a job, or even several months after I start earning?
Any advice would be much appreciated
thanks guys,

IIRC I didn't apply for my first credit card, I think I was given it when my account got converted to a student account.
But, to answer your question - no you do not need to have a full-time job to have a credit card - I didn't get a full time job until I was 22 and had a CC well before then. The only computer error is a human one.0
